It was six years between wins at SaskTel Centre, but the Swift Current Broncos managed to end an 11-game, head-to-head losing streak to the Blades in Saskatoon Sunday, coming behind for a 3-2 victory.

Two former Red Deer Rebels did the scoring damage for Speedy Creek as they leap-frogged Brandon into third place in the W-H-L’s East Division and pulled within five points of the first place Bridge City Bunch. Tanner Scott and Hunter Laing gave the Blue and Gold a 2-0 lead, breaking a scoreless tie through the first 10 minutes of the contest before 4,591 fans. But, Trae Wilke gave Swift Current life with his first of two goals before the end of the first period. His second tally, plus the game-winning goal from Hunter Mayo came in the second frame with goaltenders Reid Dyck of the Broncos and Evan Gardner of the Blades shutting down any potential scoring in the third period as the final shots on goal log was 37-35 in favour of the Bridge City Bunch. Saskatoon’s record dropped to 23-15-5 for 51 points, two better than Prince Albert while Speedy Creek is 22-18-2 for 46 points, one more than the Wheat Kings as the race for a guaranteed second seed and home-ice advantage in the first round of the playoffs tightened up again. The Blue and Gold are idle until Friday when they open a home-and-home series in P-A, then host the Raiders Sunday at SaskTel Centre.
