
The Saskatoon Police Service says they arrested three people in connection to weekend bear spray incidents.
Shortly before 8 a.m. on Friday, officers responded to a weapons call in the 500 block of Avenue X South. They received a report that two children, age 7 and 8, were suffering the effects of bear spray. The victims were identified as well as a suspect who police say was in possession of bear spray.
And 18-year-old man is charged with Assault, Carrying Concealed Weapon, and Possession of Dangerous Weapon.
At 2:15 p.m. Friday police responded to a robbery in progress in the 3000 block of Clarence Avenue. Officers were told that a woman had stolen numerous items and threatened a loss prevention officer with a can of bear spray. A suspect was located a short distance away and police say she had bear spray on her person as well as stolen property.
A 19-year-old woman is charged with Robbery, Possession of a Dangerous Weapon, and Carrying Concealed Weapon.
And Sunday night at 8:15 p.m. a bus driver reported that bear spray had been deployed towards a passenger, but the victim and suspect fled before police arrived. However, a short while later, another report came in that several youths had gone into a business in the 300 block of 2nd Avenue South suffering the effects of bear spray.
A 15-year-old girl was located, and police say she has been charged with Assault with a Weapon, Possession of Dangerous Weapon, Carrying Concealed Weapon, and breaching court-imposed conditions.
