Needing to look after business Tuesday, the Saskatoon Blades showed they were ready every time they left their Mosaic Place dressing room, blanking the Moose Jaw Warriors 6-0.
Alex Morozoff (pictured) opened the scoring 1:51 into the game, Tristen Robins tallied at 1:13 of the second period and Riley McKay connected just 47 seconds into the third frame as the Bridge City Bunch left the home side, as well as 2,608 fans, disillusioned. Considering Moose Jaw is in last place in the East Division, the result was expected…and necessary. By winning their third straight games and improving their season record to 34-24-5 for 73 points, the Blue and Gold sit two points back of third place Winnipeg and three points behind second place Brandon.
“I thought tonight was pretty good, pretty much from start to finish,” said Blades associate coach Ryan Marsh. “We needed to take care of business to set ourselves up for our weekend games.”
Saskatoon visits the ICE Friday and the Wheat Kings Saturday.
Morozoff added a second goal while Kyle Crnkovic connected for the fourth time in three games and Chase Wouters found the back of the Warriors’ net as well. Koen MacInnes registered his third shutout of the season, stopping 19 shots as the Blades out-shot Moose Jaw 47-19. It was the third time the Bridge City Bunch blanked the Warriors this season, the fifth straight Blue and Gold victory over Moose Jaw and the sixth consecutive success at Mosaic Place.
Friday’s game in Winnipeg starts at 6;30 p.m. with the Sardinia Family Restaurant pre-game show on 98-COOL beginning at 5:30. Following is the official game summary from the W-H-L…
