Evade Police, Weapons and Drugs
A 31 year old Saskatoon man is facing drug possession charges along with Evade Police, Dangerous Driving, and Possession of a Dangerous Weapon charges. The incident began shortly after midnight Wednesday when a Canine Unit tried to conduct a traffic stop on the 300 block of Havilland Crescent.
Police say the driver refused and began driving erratically. The vehicle was abandoned in the 100 block of McCormack Road and the driver fled. A suspect was caught with the help of a Police Service Dog and was taken to hospital before he went to detention.
Police allege that he had crystal methamphetamine and cocaine on him. Bear spray and a backpack containing items consistent with drug trafficking were said to have been in the abandoned vehicle. In addition to the charges, police say the suspect was found to be breaching his probation and was wanted on two outstanding warrants.
Saskatoon Methamphetamine and Fentanyl Bust
Saskatoon Police say they observed behavior that indicated drug trafficking from a vehicle that led to a search warrant and eventually the arrest of three people.
The situation unfolded around 11:15 a.m. on Tuesday morning in the 1500 block of Avenue F North. A traffic stop took place at 33rd Street West and Avenue D North where a man and woman were arrested and multiple cell phones, methamphetamine, a meth pipe and over a thousand dollars in Canadian currency were seized.
The Tactical Support Unit took part in executing a search warrant at a home in the 15-hundred block of Avenue F North. A man was arrested from the home where police say they discovered more methamphetamine as well as pre-packaged Fentanyl. That, in addition to other evidence consistent with drug trafficking, were seized from the home.
Two men, aged 40 and 53 and a 33 year old woman are all facing a variety of drug charges as well as Possession of the Proceeds of Crime under $5,000.
Weapons Bust Near Shellbrook
The RCMP Provincial Crime Reduction Team seized firearms and weapons in a traffic stop on Sunday afternoon.
Police say a suspicious vehicle was seen turning onto a dirt road near Shellbrook around 3 p.m. and during the course of the vehicle stop, a license and registration check led to the seizure of two modified firearms, bear spray and several knives as well as drug paraphernalia and ammunition.
Alphonse Durocher, 36 years old, from Beauval and 20 year old Summer Isbister, a woman from the Shellbrook District, are facing numerous weapons charges while a third person, a 39 year old man from Saskatoon, was given a traffic ticket for driving without a license.
Alphonse Durocher was remanded into custody until his next court appearance on September 14th. Summer Isbister was released and is back in court in Shellbrook in November.
